Big Green Building

Tenant Info

So you want to say you live in the Greenest building in Philly

Or do you want to go to work in the Greenest building in Philly

Dear Possible Tenant:So you want to live or work in the Big Green Building? Well here are some useful tidbits to get you up to speed with some of the thing the Big Green Building management will be asking you to think about to when in the Big Green Building.

Cleaning

Cleaning products are everywhere in our homes and offices: on dishes, countertops, furniture, clothes, floors, windows, and floating through the air. In our war on dirt and germs we may often actually be making things worse. Most of the conventional cleaning products we all grew up with are petroleum-based and have dubious health and environmental implications. Instead of opting for cleaning products that annihilate everything in their path tenants in the Big Green Building will use natural products and methods that keep the building clean and fresh-smelling without the toxic side effects. A list of high quality eco friendly products that perform as good as or better than your current products will be provided. The buildings’ cleaning staff will constantly test new eco friendly products and provide best in class brands for you to use in the care and cleaning of your home and its furnishings.

Personal Care Products

In most makeup’s lotions, and soaps, there is long list of chemicals. Today there is very little knowledge of environmental risks arising from their use in these cosmetics and hygiene products. About 7 000 different ingredients are used. The intrinsic properties of the ingredients in many non organic products could cause harm to some of the systems of the Big Green Building. UGP product testing services will work with you to asses what personal products are safe for you, your family and the buildings environment.

Purchasing

The volume of packaging that fills our landfills is of major concern to the managers of the Big Green Building. As part of your lease Big Green Building management will work with you to help reduce the amount of materials coming into the building and thus further reducing our environmental footprint. This practice will save you time and expense in many cases as well as reduce unnecessary trash.

Recycling & Composting

More than 60% of the waste produced by Philadelphians can be recycled. You can compost another 20% more. When residents recycle & compost they can help to reduce the amount of waste going into landfills. All of the materials you recycle can be passed on to re-processors so they can turn them in to new products, using recycled materials to manufacture new items; it is cheaper to use these materials and requires less energy to ‘recycle them’ into another product. All of the materials you compost can be re-used as well as a variety of farming or gardening products. By recycling & composting the Big Green Building and its tenats will be helping to preserve natural resources and to protect the environment for you and for future generations
